How to Increase the Chance of Conceiving

Posted by Faye |

I'm very vocal that my husband and I are trying to have a baby :) We're trying for almost a year now and we're praying to have healthy and normal baby this year :) But we need to stop trying for at least three months because of the MMR vaccine that we had. If I get pregnant within three months it has a side effect in the baby so we have to stop it. Well, It's better to be safe than sorry.
By the way, my husband and I prayed the novena of Obando last week, my friend Kaje shared it over flickr. They are blessed with a healthy baby girl last year and she turned 1 last month! I believe in the power of prayers!:) We'll start to pray it again on sunday and we'll attend a mass for nine consecutive sundays (and we'll make sure that we'll be on time :)

Anyway, I'm doing my rounds when I found this helpful tips on how to increase the chance of conceiving at ehow and I would like to share it with you :)

1.
Step 1

Stop using contraception. There are some arguments about how soon you can start trying to conceive after discontinuing certain birth control methods. Discuss this issue with your OBGYN as their opinion might be different than anyone else. There are some methods that might take up to eighteen months before a woman's ovulation cycles are normal again.

Step 2

Change your diet. If you and your partner's current diet is lacking the recommended amounts of fruits, vegetables, grains, calcium and folic acid, it might affect both male and female reproductive organs. In addition to a well balanced diet for mom to be, she should begin taking a prenatal vitamin with folic acid a few months before trying to conceive. The balanced diet will also help if there are any concerns about being an ideal weight prior to conception.

Step 3

Stop smoking, using drugs and drinking alcohol. This is for both males and females.

Step 4

Create an ovulation calendar. Women are most fertile anytime between ten and eighteen days from the first day of their last menstrual cycle. You can choose to have intercourse every day in between these eight days or every other day. Once the egg is released, it is only viable for 12 to 24 hours.

Step 5

Let gravity work for you. Some doctors will advise you to remain lying down with a pillow under the pelvic region for up to 30 minutes after intercourse to increase your chances of conceiving. This act is said to create a "pool" of sperm in the cervix.

Step 6
Reduce any stress in your life! Stress could lower sperm count and hinder ovulation. The more you worry, the longer it will take to conceive a baby. Just relax and let things happen naturally.

Good luck! We had a hard time conceiving too and I even had one miscarriage.

Our OB recommended elevation as well and we practiced that. Also, we would observe the ovulation calendar and would try every other day. The OB said your chances are higher this way because the man's sperm would be "stronger" because it has 1 day rest. Funny noh?

Anyway, I really wish you and your hubby luck in TTC! :)
